Conference recap¶

With around 200 in-person and 150 remote attendees, we had a great turnout this year. We had the usual mix of talks on the main stage along with Q&A, Lightning Talks, Unconference sessions, and a social event.

The biggest change was the return of Writing Day, which opened the conference on Sunday. Alongside the usual projects, we ran a New to Git workshop, a Write the Docs orientation, resume and portfolio reviews, a salary survey session, and pre-scheduled roundtable discussions on AI in documentation and API docs. We were delighted to see how involved so many of our attendees were. The day finished with the opening reception.

We will continue to work on improving the conference experience for everyone, and we appreciate all the feedback we’ve received already.

The Write the Docs Berlin 2026 T-shirt Shop is still open. We have loose and fitted options in different fabrics, so you can choose exactly the size and cut you want.

The campaign will run in batches until September 30, 2026. Shipping is available from Europe or the USA.

Code of Conduct transparency report¶

As with any Write the Docs event, this conference was covered by our community Code of Conduct. We aim to be as transparent with CoC incidents and enforcement as we can.

To ensure that our CoC was visible and accessible, we took a number of specific steps:

• Every participant agreed to the Code of Conduct in advance during registration.

• The CoC, or a summary, was included on the conference website and around the venue.

• The CoC was repeatedly mentioned in our conference introduction and announcements.

• We specifically stressed that the CoC applies to all conference spaces, including the social event.

• We encouraged all attendees to report any incident, even if they were not sure whether it was a violation.

We received one Code of Conduct report during the conference. We spoke with the involved parties, offered support, and clarified the culture and behaviour we expect at Write the Docs. That has resolved the report.
